Today we had the pleasure of having our grade 2 buddies come to our class and help us with a special art project. We have read the book "The Perfect Square" on several occasions and have found a video that we really enjoy. Today our buddies came and helped us create something from our own "perfect square." This morning we were chatting as a group and got on the topic of life cycles which lead to our differences and different abilities as people. We discussed how some people have one eye or arm, they might be shorter or taller, and some people even are born without legs! <- we had a watch a quick video of a 7 year old girl skateboarding without legs! This was very interesting to us! The take away from the story ---> The perfect square might be perfect because it has all the same length sides... but that doesn't mean it can't be prefect decomposed into something completely different and beautiful :) Mrs. Sharon has been into our rooms to work with on our whole school community art pieces with us. We are using the theme "What can you do with a chance?" and basing the art on that. We discussed what it means to take a chance, what are chances we can take in our lives, and if we want the art to "stand out" or "blend" into the environment. We experimented with water color paints and learned how to make the paint "bleed" - it was a lot of fun!
We have been busy growing in kindergarten! From our learning to caterpillars, to seeing duck eggs hatch in our grade 4 classes.
There has been some safety concerns come to our attention about road crossing. When bringing your child to and from school please ensure you are crossing the street at the designated crosswalk.
